OBX Jeep Gladiator Rental
⭐ Read our Gladiator renter reviews.
A 4-door Jeep with a real truck bed. Haul rods, coolers, paddleboards, and a week’s worth of beach gear — then drive it onto the sand. Family-owned, Outer Banks based, beach permits included.
Why Renters Pick the Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator is the only 4-door pickup in our fleet, and it’s the vehicle people specifically request when their trip involves gear. Surf rods that would never fit inside a Wrangler. Coolers that don’t need to live on someone’s lap. A pair of paddleboards. Crab pots. Beach chairs, an umbrella, a wagon, and the dog — all without playing trunk Tetris every morning.
You get the same legendary Jeep capability that gets you across the soft sand of Carova, the same open-air feel with the top folded back, and a real truck bed behind the cab. It seats up to 5 passengers comfortably and tows the line between “Jeep adventure” and “truck utility” better than anything else we rent.
Built for Outer Banks Beach Driving
Every Gladiator in our fleet is set up for sand the same way our Wranglers and Rubicons are. True 4WD with low-range gearing — not AWD — so it can grind through soft pockets without sinking. Recovery gear lives in the vehicle, ready if you need it.
And it’s automatic. Our entire fleet is automatic transmission — easy for any licensed driver in your group to take a turn at the wheel. The soft top folds back for the open-air experience, but the doors stay on (locked hinge for safety and liability).
Where the Gladiator Earns Its Keep
- Surf fishing Cape Hatteras & Cape Point. The bed handles long rods, a tackle bag, a cooler, and a chair without compromise. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore ORV permit is included with every rental.
- Wild horses in Carova. The Currituck County permit is also included — drive the 11-mile 4×4 stretch north of where the pavement ends in Corolla and find the Spanish mustangs that have lived there for over 500 years.
- Family beach days. Five seats inside, and a bed for the canopy, cooler, and wagon. No more “we’ll have to make two trips.”
- Ocracoke ferry trips. The Cape Hatteras pass covers Ocracoke. Take the car ferry, explore one of the most remote islands on the East Coast, and bring real gear with you.
- Multi-stop OBX road trips. Pet-friendly at no extra cost — bring the dog — and easy to drive on paved roads between stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many people does the Gladiator seat?
The Gladiator seats up to 5 passengers in the cab. The bed is for gear, not passengers.
Can the Gladiator drive on the sand?
Yes — it’s a true 4WD with low-range gearing, set up for the OBX 4×4 beaches. Both beach permits (Corolla/Carova and Cape Hatteras) are pre-installed on the vehicle.
Does the bed have a tonneau cover?
Configurations vary. If a tonneau or specific tie-down setup matters for your trip, call or text us at (252) 564-4218 before booking and we’ll confirm what’s available on the Gladiator(s) for your dates.
Is there a hitch for a rod holder or rack?
Some of our vehicles have receiver hitches. Reach out before booking and we’ll confirm whether a hitch-equipped Gladiator is available for your dates.
Can I take the doors or top off?
The soft top folds back for an open-air experience. Doors stay on — they have a locked hinge for safety and liability reasons.
Is the Gladiator pet-friendly?
Yes. All Beach4x4 rentals are pet-friendly with no extra fees, all sizes and breeds welcome. We do require pets be secured in a harness seatbelt or crate while the vehicle is moving.
What do I need to book?
You must be at least 25 years old with a valid driver’s license, and you’ll need to send proof of full-coverage personal auto insurance to bret@beach4x4.com or (252) 564-4218 before pickup.
