How to Reserve Your 4×4
Here’s how it works:
- Step 1: Fill out our online booking form (or for a one-day rental within 2 days, use the one-day form).
- Step 2: After you submit the form, text or email us proof of full-coverage personal auto insurance to bret@beach4x4.com or (252) 564-4218. This is required to secure your reservation — your dates are held while we wait.
- Step 3: Receive your booking confirmation with pickup details.
- Step 4: Pick up your fully-equipped Jeep at 2101 Colington Road, Kill Devil Hills (7 AM – 8 PM, 7 days a week).
- Step 5: Hit the beach!

Insurance Requirements
We require proof of full-coverage personal auto insurance that extends to rental vehicles. Most credit-card rental insurance is not sufficient because it typically excludes off-road / sand driving. If you don’t have full-coverage insurance, you’ll need to purchase a short-term rental policy that includes off-road use before pickup.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel 7 days or more before pickup, you receive a full refund. Cancellations within 7 days of pickup incur a $225 cancellation fee. For dangerous weather (severe storms, hurricanes, etc.), we issue full refunds on multi-day rentals — contact us as soon as possible. One-day rentals are non-refundable, rain or shine, no exceptions.
Age & ID Requirements
The primary renter and driver must be at least 25 years old with a valid driver’s license and full-coverage personal auto insurance.
Payment Methods
We accept credit cards and debit cards. A $300 refundable security deposit applies to all multi-day rentals (credit or debit) and is released 3–7 business days after vehicle return. One-day rentals have a $200 refundable security deposit.

How much does it cost to rent a 4×4 on the Outer Banks?
Rates are $1,338 flat for a full week (same price for any 4WD in the fleet), $200 per day for a 3 to 6 day rental, $225 per day for a 2-day rental, and $300 for a single day. Both the Currituck County and Cape Hatteras ORV permits are included at no extra charge.
What’s included with every rental?
Every rental comes pre-permitted for both Corolla/Carova (Currituck County) and Cape Hatteras National Seashore, plus recovery gear: a portable air compressor, tire pressure gauge, jack and jack support board, and a shovel and tow strap. Free parking for your personal vehicle and pet-friendly travel with no extra fees are also included.
