Beach4x4’s lot is on Colington Road in Kill Devil Hills, the middle of the Outer Banks. Pick up a Jeep Wrangler, a Gladiator, a three-row 4WD SUV or a 4x4 pickup with both beach permits already on the windshield, and you can be on the sand at Corolla or Cape Hatteras the same morning.
Where to find us
2101 Colington Road, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948 — the shared drive with the U-Haul dealer. Open seven days a week, year-round, 7 AM to 8 PM for reservation holders. Kitty Hawk is the next town north and Nags Head the next town south, so from most of the central beaches you’re at the lot in minutes; Duck, Southern Shores and Manteo are a short drive.
What’s on the lot
- Jeep Wrangler Willys — four-door, gray or blue.
- Jeep Gladiator — the four-door Jeep pickup, with a bed for rods, coolers and gear.
- Three-row 4WD SUVs — Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80 for bigger groups, same price as a Jeep.
- Chevy Silverado Trail Boss 4x4 — a full-size pickup for beach driving, not a moving truck.

What comes with every rental
- The Currituck County beach parking permit for Corolla and Carova and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore off-road permit, both on the windshield when you pick up.
- Recovery gear in the vehicle: jack, jack board, shovel and tow strap, plus a tire gauge and a portable air compressor.
- Tire-pressure recommendations written on the dashboard, and an air-down walkthrough at pickup.
- Free parking for your own car at the lot for the whole rental.
Where you can drive from Kill Devil Hills
North: the Corolla beach ramp is about 40 minutes up the road, and past it are the 4x4-only beaches of Carova, where the wild horses live. South: the Cape Hatteras National Seashore ramps start just below Nags Head at Oregon Inlet and run down North Carolina Highway 12 to Hatteras Village, an hour and a half to two hours away. Either way, the drive is best near low tide.

Weekly and multi-day rentals book online with live availability. One-day rentals go through a short request form that opens two days before your date. Rates are on the home page.
Common questions
Can I pick up on the day I check in to my beach house?
Yes. We’re open 7 AM to 8 PM every day for reservation holders, Saturday and Sunday included.
Do I need to buy my own beach permits?
No. The Corolla/Carova permit and the Cape Hatteras off-road permit are both on the vehicle when you pick it up.
Can my dog come along?
Yes. Every vehicle in the fleet is pet-friendly.
